RAWALPINDI, Feb 16: The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has urged the government to solve the problems being faced by employment promoters in order to exploit the overseas job opportunities.
During a meeting with Ministry of Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Secretary Malik Asif Hayat here on Friday, RCCI President Dr Hassan Sirosh said currently manpower was being sent only to Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE), and that some promoters even had no permit for these two countries.
He said the employment promoters could not send labour to Kuwait, Qatar, Muscat and Amman, and urged the secretary to take measures to facilitate the promoters so that the labour force could be exported there.
The RCCI president asked the secretary to send delegates of employment promoters under the auspices of the ministry to Gulf and European countries.
Dr Sirosh also urged the ministry to send commercial welfare attaches to foreign countries to explore job opportunities for Pakistani labour.
He suggested bimonthly meetings between the ministry and the chamber in order to solve the problems regarding manpower.
On the occasion, Malik Asif Hayat said the government would soon devise a policy to address the promoters issues.
