Man kills self after robbery

By Our Correspondent

VEHARI, Feb 16: A man hanged himself to death on Thursday night after losing his belongings in a robbery and police inability to help him, his relatives say.

Muhammad Hanif committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his house in Garhmor, when his family was not at home.

His son Akbar Ali said that the apparent reason for his father’s suicide was the indifferent police that had failed to find any clue to a robbery at their house. Two months ago, five robbers broke into their house and looted Rs276,000 and ornaments and fled. His father visited the police station several times, but police did show interest in the case and even did not register the case.

Mitro police official Tariq said that Hanif did not want to get the case registered and wanted to solve the case through punchayat or a village council. He claimed that an application by Hanif seeking no FIR was still with the police.
