MIRPURKHAS, Feb 16: Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Rauf Ahmed Siddiqi has said that the Sindh government has asked the federal government to hand it over historic sites of the province.

He was talking to journalists in Umerkot on Friday after the inauguration of Thar Festival in Umerkot Fort, being organised by the federal government.

He directed Umerkot District Nazim Faqeer Manghan Mangrio to remove encroachments from the surroundings of the historic fort and the authorities to stop construction at the circuit house to preserve it in its original shape.Later, the minister with culture and tourism secretary Abdul Qadir Mangi, the nazim, District Naib Nazim Kanwar Hameer Singh, Mirpukhas District Naib Nazim Dr Zafar Kamali and Mirpurkhas Muttahida Qaumi Movement zonal in-charge Saleem Razzaq visited Shiv Mela near Umerkot.

CAMPUS: Sindh Minister for Excise and Taxation Shabbir Ahmed Kaimkhani has said that a campus of the Sindh University will be established in Mirpurkhas to provide higher education to the youths of the area.

Talking to different delegations here on Friday, he said that PC-1 of the project had been prepared. He asked the Mirpurkhas DCO to select a piece of government land near the city so that work on the project could be started.

He directed the XEN of the public health and engineering department to complete the work on water supply and drainage schemes of Kot Ghulam Mohammad town. He also directed the XEN of the highways department to accelerate the pace of ongoing work on a road between Mirwah and Kot Ghulam Mohammad.
