KARACHI, Feb 16: Residents of different areas complained of power suspensions on Friday due to what the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation described as upgradation of local distribution network and repair work.
A complainant, Sajjad Ahmad, said the people of Haroonabad experienced intermittent power failures. He said power supply suspended since 3pm had not been restored till late in the evening.
Another consumer Altaf said power suspensions was a routine in Baldia either on the pretext of shutdowns or breakdowns.
A consumer from Green Town, Asifabad said that power supply to his area remained suspended from 9am to 10.30pm.
Meanwhile, the KESC has announced a shutdown for Saturday stating that power supply may be interrupted from 9am to 6pm in the following areas: Khayaban-i-Bukhari, Clifton Block 1, Shireen Jinnah Colony, Income Tax Bungalows, Saddar Lakson Substation, Sachal Goth, Mehran Town, Ammar Yasir Town, Aleemabad, Sabir Colony, Saudabad, Malir Colony, Mohammadi Colony, Liaquat Market, Malir Cantonment, Memon Goth, Malir Extension, Firdosi Masjid, Punjabi Para, Darakhshan Society, North Nazimabad, Gulshan-i-Iqbal blocks 13 A and B, Gulzar-i-Hijri.
Gurumandir, Cosmopolitan Society, Mehmoodabad and Hill Park area, Landhi sectors 1, 37A, 37B, Cattle Colony, Korangi Industrial Area sector 41B, Korangi sectors F, G & L, Madina Colony and Mustafa Taj Colony. Chandni Chowk, Abuzar Ghaffari PMT, Manghopir Road, North Karachi sector 14A, Mustafabad and Surjani Town’s sector 7C.
The KESC spokesman said, “We regret the inconvenience to the consumers but the work has to be carried out to prevent multiple breakdowns during summer.”
