Altaf sees conspiracy for ethnic violence

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 15: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain on Thursday said that some elements were hatching conspiracies to trigger ethnic violence between Pakhtuns and Urdu-speaking people.

Speaking from London at a rally in the Lal Qila ground in Azizabad, he said that attempts were being made to ‘incite hatred’ among the two communities.

The rally was organised by the Punjabi-Pakhtun Committee of the MQM.

Mr Hussain appealed to the Pakhtun and Urdu-speaking people to make united efforts to foil all conspiracies to fuel violence.

He said that the MQM was the only party struggling for the rights of the oppressed people of the country.

He said that even those parties which always claimed to follow the teachings of Rehman Baba, Khushhal Khan Khatak, Abdul Ghaffar Khan and Wali Khan had forgotten their message of peace.

He said that the MQM adopted the path of love and peace paved by great Pakhtun leaders and the saints of Sindh and propagated their teachings to unite the people under the banner of MQM.
