Ruling party MPA flees court: LHC rejects bail plea

By Our Correspondent

MULTAN, Feb 15: Ruling PML MPA Mir Badshah Khan Qaisrani took to the heels when the Lahore High Court’s Multan bench on Thursday rejected his bail plea in a double murder case.

Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman rejected the bail of Mr Qaisrani, who is also a parliamentary secretary, for the second time.

Complainant Allah Wasai had moved the Supreme Court for the arrest of the MPA who, she said, had abetted the murder of her husband and son. The apex court directed the Dera Ghazi Khan DPO to arrest the accused and interrogate him.

However, the accused got interim bail from the LHC’s Multan bench on Jan 11 and the court asked him to appear before the Dera Ghazi Khan sessions court till Jan 18, but the accused could not appear before an additional district and sessions judge.

Following his absence, the AD&SJ cancelled his interim bail after which the MPA again moved the LHC’s Multan bench on Jan 23 to seek another interim bail on the plea that he was in Multan and could not reach the sessions court in time owing to traffic jam at the Chenab bridge. The court once again granted interim bail to the accused till Feb 2 and directed him to appear in the sessions court.

On Feb 2, the AD&SJ rejected the bail of the accused for the second time who, however, managed to escape despite massive security arrangements. Thereafter, the MPA filed a bail application in the court of Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman who rejected the bail on Thursday and the MPA made good his escape.

The police had already arrested three main accused, Saeed Machi, Pir Bashir Jaffar and Qasim, for murdering plaintiff’s husband Khuda Bakhsh and her son Rashid four months ago.
