KHAIRPUR, Feb 15: The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company disconnected power supply to streetlights in the city on Thursday as a part of its campaign against defaulter government departments.

The Hesco staff also disconnected electricity connections of a sewerage pumping station, about 50 tube-wells and two drainage pumping stations of Scarp and other government installations for non-payment of bills.

Hesco has launched a campaign against defaulter government departments to force them to pay power dues.

PROCESSION: A large number of people, under the banner of the Sindhi Adabi Sangat and Shehri Ittehad, took out a procession on Thursday, which started from Shah Latif Library and, after marching through different roads of Pakka Chang, ended in Faiz Ganj.

Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Murtaza, Mehmood Khan Shar and others said that a dispute between two groups of Chang and Mashori communities had badly affected every walk of life, including trade, in the towns of Faiz Ganj taluka.

They said that about 20 girls’ and boys’ primary schools in the taluka were lying closed as most of the teachers belonged to the two communities and other teachers faced problems due to harassment created by the dispute.
