RAWALPINDI, Feb 15: Students of OPF Girls College, primary section, 6th Road, along with their parents on Thursday joined the teachers of F-8/2 college in their protest against the new hiring policy of the institution.
The students along with their parents gathered outside their school at 8:30am and later went to the Islamabad campus where they joined the protest which entered 9th day.
The students were carrying placards saying “Do not snatch our teachers, we want our teachers back”.
The contractual teachers have been protesting the new hiring policy of the OPF manage-
ment under which they have to appear in written test and interview for rehiring.
A large number of parents from the twin cities met the principal of the F-8/2 campus, Dr Shahina to express their concern over the discontinuation of classes two months prior to final examinations. The principal failed to satisfy the parents and to bring the protesting teachers back to classes.
When the parents called OPF managing director Mushtaq Ahmed and desired to meet him, he refused on the pretext of official commitments and sent director education Brig (retired) Farrukh Anjum.
Brig Anjum told the parents that the protest of the female teachers was unjustified and was leading to suspension of classes.
