KARACHI, Feb 15: Two women committed suicide and four people were killed in separate traffic accidents in parts of the city on Thursday.

The police said a 60-year-old woman, mother of four, hanged herself off the ceiling fan in her house in Dhobi Ghat in the Pak Colony police limits.

The victim’s 20-year-old son, Amir, told the police that her mother was mentally unstable since his father divorced her three years ago.

A 22-year-old woman, who had taken poison two days ago, died at the Civil Hospital. Police said Najmain, wife of Asghar Ali, was shifted to the Civil Hospital in a critical condition after she attempted to commit suicide in her Rexer Lane house in the limits of the Peerabad police. They said the woman had strained relationship with her husband.

ACCIDENTS: A 30-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he was knocked down by a hit-and-run vehicle in Kalri police area.

The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital where the dead was identified as Shahzad, son of Pervaiz Masih.

A 28-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he was hit by a truck on the ICI bridge. His body was shifted to the Civil Hospital where he was identified as Mohammed Imran Khan. The truck driver fled the scene.

A 35-year-old man was killed after he fell off the roof of a mini-bus on Mauripur Road. He was shifted to the Civil Hospital where he was identified as Lal Bakht. The Maripur police arrested the bus driver.

A mechanic Sajid, 22, was killed when a tyre of a truck burst in Sultanabad. His body was taken to the Civil Hospital.
