HYDERABAD, Feb 15: Sindh Taraqqi-Pasand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has opposed the proposed creation of new provinces and said that the proposal has been mooted by the powers that be to complete the agenda of an ethnic group.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, he said that Sindh had a history of thousands of years, with a separate national identity, language and culture. He said that no one would be allowed to change the demography of Sindh.
He rejected the example of other countries in this regard and said that India or any other country was not created under a social contract as Pakistan was.
He argued that Pakistan had come into being under the resolution of 1940 and with the consent of Sindhis, Balochs, Pakhtoons and Punjabis with the guarantee of complete provincial autonomy.
Therefore, he said, national identity of the provinces could not be tampered with. He said that if any one tried to tamper with national identity of Sindh, consequences would be disastrous.
SHABAB-I-MILLI: The activists of Shabab-i-Milli, Hyderabad chapter, staged a protest demonstration outside the Hyderabad Press Club on Thursday against desecration of Masjid-i-Aqsa by the Israelis.
Speaking on the occasion, the district president of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, Abdul Waheed Qureshi, condemned desecration of Masjid-i-Aqsa and called upon the Muslims of the world to take notice of the sacrilege. He regretted the attitude of the Muslim rulers and urged the Muslims of the world to unite and declare Jihad against Israel.—Bureau
