KARACHI, Feb 15: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad directed the concerned department to ensure availability of the right of way on south-bound of the Lyari Expressway by the end of this month so that construction work should be taken in hand.

Presiding over a meeting at the Governor’s House to review the work progress of the Lyari Expressway being built to prevent colossal damage to life and property and ensure smooth traffic flow, he stressed the need to complete on priority basis the construction of all bridges on the expressway.

Ishratul Ibad said the objective of the construction of Lyari Expressway was not only to ensure smooth vehicular traffic but also to provide pollution-free environment to inhabitants of the area through resettlement.

The 16.5km-long expressway starts from Zero Point Sohrab Goth and terminate at Mauripur Road Bridge.

The project will cost Rs7.84 billion. So far 77 per cent site has been handed over to the client while work progress on the North bound was 65 per cent and on the South bound 91 per cent.—Staff Reporter
