ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Wednesday approved the promulgation of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Ordinance, 2007.
The draft of the bill, which is almost a replica of the ordinance, has been sent back to the law ministry for vetting. A statement issued after the cabinet meeting said: “The ministry of health is directed to get the draft bill vetted by the ministry of law and justice and Special Adviser to the Prime Minister, Sharifuddin Pirzada.”
The punishment prescribed for those involved in commercial dealing in organs is five to seven years imprisonment and fine.
