FIFA chief to visit Pakistan next month

LAHORE, Feb 14: FIFA president Sepp Blatter will visit Pakistan in the last week of March this year, Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) said on Wednesday.

Blatter was to visit Pakistan in October 2006 to inaugurate FIFA House, but couldn’t come because of dental surgery.

PFF president Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat met Blatter in FIFA headquarters in Zurich, on Wednesday, inviting him to visit Pakistan.

Meanwhile, PFF announced two million rupees for Pakistan team after they beat Singapore 3-2 in Olympic qualifiers.

PFF said chief minister Punjab Pervez Elahi had decided to give Rs 0.5 million to team for winging against Singapore.

PFF said Pakistan would play Bahrain, Qatar and Kuwait on home and away basis from Feb 28 to June 6.

Bahrain will host Pakistan on Feb 28, while Pakistan play Qatar in Pakistan on March 14. Pakistan take on Kuwait here on March 28 and would tour to play away match on April 18. Bahrain will tour Pakistan to play on May 16. In the last match, Pakistan will tour Qatar to play away game on June 6.

Although names of the home matches venues are yet to be announced, Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad are likely to hosts the games.
