Three of family murdered

SIALKOT, Feb 14: Three members of a family were shot dead by as many men over an old enmity here on Wednesday evening at Gujjar Kulla-Motra, Daska tehsil.

Reports said landlord Ehsan Elahi and his two sons — Iftikhar Ahmad and Afzaal Ahmad — were sitting at a village general store when the accused riding a motorcycle came there and opened fire, killing them on the spot.

The reason for the triple murder is stated to be an old enmity.

Kidnap case: The Motra police registered an abduction case on Wednesday after four months of the incident.

Reports said Basharat Ali alias Kali and his two unidentified accomplices had kidnapped a married woman `N’ from her parents’ house at Bhakreywali-Motra, Daska tehsil, about four months ago.

College closed: The management of Government Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday closed the college for three days till Friday (tomorrow) to mourn the brutal murder of its lecturer Attiqur Rehman Bajwa.

Mr Bajwa was shot dead by some unidentified dacoits on offering resistance here in a suburban area on Monday.

On Wednesday, scores of students and college teachers boycotted academic activities as a protest against the incident.

They also held a protest meeting at the college with principal Chaudhry Riaz Ahmad in the chair.

The meeting condemned the murder and demanded early arrest of killers. Meanwhile, Sialkot Saddar police could not find clue to the accused.

FAKE CURRENCY: Police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested two people with counterfeit currency notes in Daska city.

Report said Daska police, led by ASI Muhammad Asif, raided Galla Shaheedan and arrested Aitzaz Ahmad alias Taaji of Gujranwala and Yasir Abbas of Daska red-handed for running the business of counterfeit currency notes.
