HYDERABAD, Feb 14: The supreme council of the Sindh Employees Alliance, at a meeting held here on Wednesday, condemned what it called secret appointments of 1,000 people on teaching and non-teaching jobs by the Sindh education department on political basis.

The meeting, presided over by Rafiq Jarwar, alleged that the appointments had been made at the instance of an ethnic organisation and other partners of the provincial coalition. It noted that the appointments violated the Sindh Services Rules and the quota system.

It called on the Sindh chief minister, chief secretary and education secretary to remove the regional manager (colleges) and the EDO (education) Hyderabad for malpractices.

The meeting warned that if the demand was not accepted, the alliance would be forced to launch a protest movement.

It demanded removal of Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro, saying that she had created problems for teachers, students and parents. It demanded that victimisation of government employees be stopped, dismissed and suspended teachers be reinstated. It demanded an investigation into the use of funds provided by the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank to the Sindh education department.
