KARACHI: Man, woman commit suicide

KARACHI, Feb 14: The body of a 50-year-old man was found in a gunny bag in Liaquatabad and two people, including a 26-year-old married woman, committed suicide in different parts of the city.

Police said the body of the man was fund in guuny bag near Shabina Mosque in Liaquatabad around 8am. They shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where the deceased was identified as Mohammed Majid, owner of a nickel polish factory. Doctors said the throat of the man was slit with some sharp weapon.

The police registered a murder case against unknown culprits on the complaint of the victim’s son. The family told the police the victim left the house around 10pm and had been missing since.

Shama Nawazish, wife of Nawazish, was found shot dead in her Jaffer Tayyar house No. 53. Her body was shifted to JPMC.

The police said the husband of the victim was not at home as he had gone to attend a majlis.

Nawazish Raza, who owns a travel agency, told the police that he found his wife dead when he returned home around 3am after attending the majlis. He said his licensed pistol was lying beside his wife. The police said they were investigating.

A 60-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself in Surjani police jurisidction. The police shifted Mohammed Asif’s body to Abbasi Shaheed hospital for autopsy.

Surjani police said the man committed suicide due to financial constraints. They said Asif was a retired employee of KPT and had incurred huge losses in business after retirement.

Police said the man was alone in the house as his wife had gone to her mother’s house.

BODIES FOUND: Two bullet-riddled bodies were found late on Tuesday night. They were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Mohammed Irfan, 28, was found dead in Sector 4-F, Orangi. Doctors said the victim, a shoe maker, received four bullets, two each in the head and back.

The body of an unidentified man was found in Block-2, Metroville. Doctors said the victim was shot six times.
