KARACHI: Gurya Ka Ghar at arts council


Tehreek-e-Niswan’s 32nd theatre production, Gurya Ka Ghar, based on Henrik Ibsen’s classic “A Doll’s House” (1879) opens today, Thursday, Feb. 15, Council auditorium at 6pm.

The one-hour stage play incorporates the essence of the original, a woman discovering herself and her strength to break free from the traditional role of a wife and doll in the house. Changes have been made by the writer to reflect our society and status of woman in Pakistan.

The cast includes Sheema Kermani, Saife Hasan, Mehvish Faruqi, Salim Meraj, Asma Mundriwala and Mani Chao.

The play will continue until Monday 19th February 2007.
