KARACHI, Feb 13: Five-year-old bay horse Jawan Bakht who was beaten by Birj-ul-Arab in a closely fought contest on Sunday is tipped to rise to the occasion in the feature event of the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Wednesday.

Ridden by Mohammad Essa he finished good second after a long layoff which speaks of his fine form.He faces tough challenge from filly Foolish Pleasure, mare Haseena-e-Arab and another filly Kat Mandu in the quest of picking up spoils in the top division of class VII.

However, if allowed to run on merit, Jack In The Box can upset the applecart.

A card of seven races has been drawn for the day. The first race begins at 2pm.

Despite her repeated failures, seven-year-old bay mare Princess Rozi, is favourite to win the five furlongs supporting event. Her likely challengers in a field of 12 runners barring last minute withdrawls are Sweet Grandy and Juliat.

Three horses — Canon Ball, Shah Pasand and Daruwala — should battle it out for the honours in div III of class VII. Canon Ball who finished off the board in the last run should edge out the rivals.

The second race should see seven-year-old King Of the Ring making amends by storming home ahead of other contenders. He should be chased by Azam The Great and Lucky Legs for places.

Seven-year-old bay mare Gul-e-Lala should gallop to victory in the opener while Flying Prince and Jet Zone start as clear favourites in the remaining two races.
