KARACHI: Woman suffers 87pc burns

KARACHI, Feb 13: A 35-year-old woman received over 87 per cent burns on Tuesday after she allegedly attempted to commit suicide.

Her family, however, said she was burnt when her clothes caught fire while cooking in her Korangi house. Naheed wife of Javed was shifted to the Civil Hospital in a critical condition.

Edhi sources said the woman, mother of four, attempted to commit suicide as she had strained relationship with her husband.

Her 17-year-old son, Raheel, however, told Dawn that his mother was burned while cooking. “I was not at home when the incident took place”, he added.

Doctors said she had been burned critically. They quoted the victim as saying that she had attempted suicide.—Staff Reporter
