HYDERABAD, Feb 12: A labourer was shot dead by armed men on the Matli bridge on Monday. He was identified as Mir Mohammad Pitafi, who belonged to Goth Nabi Bux Pitafi in Tando Mohammad Khan district.

A large number of people belonging to the Pitafi community took out a protest procession and staged a sit-in on the Hyderabad-Badin road.

The protesters dispersed after district nazim of Tando Muhammad Khan assured them that justice would be served and promised scholarships for two sons of the slain worker and said that the district would take care of their education. Later, brother of the slain labourer accused Anwar Bhurgari, Ghulam Dastagir and Soobo Pitafi of murder in an FIR.— Bureau
