PML accused of foul play
LAHORE, Feb 11: The PML-N alleged on Sunday that the ruling party was pressuring its Lahore president, Mian Marghoob Ahmad, to change loyalty.
At a news conference, provincial president Zulfikar Khosa said the Punjab government was trying to acquire Marghoob’s 102 kanals on Bund Road worth Rs1,250 million for just Rs200 million so that a private company could set up its commercial centre there.
Mian Marghoob, MNAs Saad Raqfiq, Pervaiz Malik, Sardar Ayyaz Sadiq, Lahore information secretary Imran Nazir and some others were also present.
Mr Khosa gave details of the correspondence between the minister for industries and the revenue department to acquire the land, and the petition Marghoob had filed in the Lahore High Court to thwart the bid.
Marghoob said he was an ideological worker and would not change the loyalty, no matter what the price.
Other leaders said they would raise the matter in the National Assembly as well as the Punjab Assembly. —Staff Reporter
