Robbers continue to fill coffers

LAHORE, Feb 11: Robbers shot at and injured a man on resistance and took away cash and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees in several strikes in the city on Sunday.

Reports said two armed men barged into Nadeem’s medical store in main bazaar at Gujjarpura, held the owner at gunpoint and snatched Rs150,000 in cash. When Nadeem put up resistance, the intruders shot at him, leaving the man injured. However, the police denied the incident.

Three robbers entered Ahsan’s house in Defence area and took away cash, jewellery and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

Unidentified people came to flat 9 in Askari Flats in North Cantonment, held up the inmates and managed their escape with valuables worth thousands of rupees. In another incident, two robbers stormed into a general store in Sattukatla area and escaped after looting Rs2,000 and a cell phone.

Two men took away Rs15,000 in cash and a cell phone from a shop at Qazi Park in Shahdara.

A woman named Bushra was stopped by some robbers in Misri Shah area and deprived of cash, jewellery and cell phone. Robbers snatched cash in thousands and cell phones from passersby in Iqbal Town and Factory Area.

Meanwhile, some car riders got petrol worth Rs1,000 from a filling station in Lower Mall area and sped without paying cash.—Staff Reporter
