Two killed in road accidents

RAWALPINDI, Feb 11: Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Islamabad on Saturday, police said.

In the first incident, a woman was killed after being run over by a car driven by Zulqarnain Haider in the jurisdiction of Bhara Kahu.

Chaudhry Mehrban, the husband of the deceased Nazar Bibi, told the police that he was crossing the road along with his wife when a car hit her, killing her on the spot. The driver has been arrested and his vehicle impounded.

In another incident, a man was killed in a road accident in Sihala police area.

Arsalan Shaukat lodged a complaint with the police, stating that he was travelling in his car with his friend Mohammad Ashraf when another vehicle, driven by an unidentified driver, hit them, injuring Ashraf.

The injured man was shifted to the hospital where he died. The driver managed to escape from the scene.

Meanwhile, a woman was injured in a robbery attempt in Sadiqabad while four vehicles were stolen from different parts of the city, police said.

Farkhanda Bibi, wife of Shabir Ahmed, was injured by two masked men who forcibly entered her house with the intention of robbery.

Preliminary report suggested that the woman was injured by culprits when she offered them resistance.

Meanwhile, Ahmed Mehmood’s car (LHN-9400) was stolen from the city police area, Mohammad Nawaz’s car (LWN-5004) went missing from Pirwadhai, Tariq Mehmood’s car (JE-863) was taken away from Banni area while Rizwan Ahmed’s motorbike was stolen from the Civil Lines area.
