KARACHI: Rain forecast stalls event

Published February 12, 2007

KARACHI, Feb 11: The organisers of the weekly Koocha-i-Saqafat avoided holding the event on Sunday after the meteorological department forecast rain on the day, an organiser told Dawn.

“We decided to skip this week because in the event of rain our stall- holders would have suffered a great deal,” said the organiser.

However, despite the met office’s forecast, the city received no showers on Sunday.

The organiser reminded of similar rain last year when the stall-holders, booksellers and artistes in particular, had suffered substantial losses.

“Since then we have decided to keep weather forecast in mind before holding this event,” the organiser said.
