KARACHI, Feb 10: Faisalabad rekindled their hopes of making the final of Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League Cricket Championship after scoring a crushing innings and three-run victory over Karachi Harbour at the National Stadium on Saturday.
Having conceded a first-innings lead of 197 runs, Karachi Harbour collapsed in their second innings to be bowled out for 194 inside 48 overs on the last day of the four-day fixture.
The capitulation was quite remarkable as the hosts lost all wickets in the space of 105 runs after Khalid Latif (34) and Wajihuddin had put on 89 for the opening stand before Ahmed Hayat sent back Wajihuddin and Akbar Rehman on successive deliveries.
Wajihuddin, who made 67 in the first innings, was the top-scorer with 56 on Saturday. His 79-ball knock contained seven boundaries.
Thereafter the wickets fell at regular intervals including that of Fawwad Alam, who was tragically run out after another impressive contribution of 53 off 57 balls with seven fours.
Pacers Asad Ali and Ahmed Hayat claimed three wickets each as did slow left-armer Imran Khalid.
Faisalabad, who have 18 points to credit, move up to fourth spot in the seven-team standings with just one round of matches to come next week.
