Eight killed as bus overturns

SAHIWAL, Feb 10: Eight people were killed and another 30 sustained injuries, eight of them serious, in a road accident on Sahiwal-Arifwala Road near Chak 115/9-L on Saturday.

Reports said that a speeding bus (LZR-8933), going from Burewala to Lahore, overturned at a sharp curve while saving a donkey cart. In consequence, passengers Ghulam Muhammad of Gujranwala, Kulsoom, Perveen, Naureen (4), Jafar, Hanif, Nazir of Sheikhupura and an unidentified man died instantly while 30 others suffered injuries.

The condition of eight injured — Abid, Naeem, Nazir Ahmed, Vakeel Hussain, Ehsan and three others — was said to be serious at the local DHQ Hospital. Kamir police have instituted a case.
