LONDON, Feb.9: The Pakistan Muslim League (N) has condemned what it called the increasing incidents of forced disappearances of, and torture against, Baloch and Sindhi nationalists.
A statement issued by the PML (N) international headquarters here on Friday said that the party had been warning at different forums from time to time about the negative consequences for the federation of such highhandedness on the part of the state machinery.
The statement said that Pakistan was increasingly being gripped by an armed insurgency which the PML (N) thought was a direct result of the one-sided policies being pursued by a single individual and this, it said, had resulted in indiscriminate killing of innocent Pakistani citizens endangering the country’s national security.
The institutions of the state seem helpless in containing this growing threat, the statement said.
Referring to the numerous incidents of suicide bombings and attacks against security personnel of the state in the last three weeks, the statement said that the target of the insurgency was not the people of Pakistan but the state itself.
The statement said that this alarming situation could not be allowed to continue and called upon all democratic and patriotic political forces to come together for launching a decisive struggle for the restoration of democratic and constitutional rule in Pakistan.
