ISLAMABAD, Feb 9: A five-day 4th World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Technical Conference on Management of Meteorological and Hydrological Services in Asia concluded here on Friday at a local hotel.
The conference was hosted and organized by Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) in collaboration with World Meteorological Organization.
About 50 delegates from Asian countries, mostly heads of National Meteorological Services, participated in the Technical Conference. A six-member delegation headed by Michel Jarraud, WMO Secretary General also attended the conference.
The theme of the conference was “Weather, climate and water for secure and sustainable living”. Lectures and presentations of the case studies relating to the social and economic benefits of weather, climate and water, role of Nation Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) in disaster risk reduction, use of information and communication technology in NMHSs and etc. were made by the delegates during the conference.
WMO Secretary General Michel Jarraud and Director General PMD Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman Chaudhry delivered keynote lectures relating to the theme of the conference.
