PESHAWAR, Feb 9: The NWFP government has decided to provide a monthly stipend of Rs200 to girl students in seven districts.
According to a handout, an agreement to this effect was signed by Schools and Literacy Department Secretary Shafiullah Khan and NWFP Post Master General Fazal Sattar Khan in the presence of Education Minister Maulana Fazle Ali Haqqani on Friday.
The stipend would be provided to girl students from class 6 to 10 for which the government had allocated of Rs30 million in the current fiscal year.
The first phase of the stipend programme would cover Kohistan, Shangla, Buner, Hangu, Tank, Battagram and Chtiral districts and 284,695 girlstudents would receive the stipend on a quarterly basis through money orders.
The programme would be extended to the entire province for which Rs670.351 million had been earmarked. Students with at least 80 per cent attendance would be eligible for the facility.
