Trader, his driver killed by partners

GUJRANWALA, Feb 8: Armed men shot dead a businessman along with his driver and drove away with his car after throwing bodies in fields near Rawalpindi By-pass intersection on Thursday.

Police have recovered the car (LXV-9393) from Aimanabad.

Reports said Muhammad Azam of Kotli Shams (Daska) was on his way to Rahwali by his car along with his two `business partners’ and the driver. He reportedly informed to his in-laws in Rahwali by mobile phone to arrange meal for four men. Near by-pass intersection, some unknown armed men opened fire on him and his driver Javed Iqbal of Pasrur. They drove away with the vehicle after throwing their bodies in fields and snatching their mobile phones and Rs13,000 cash.

Azam was father of three minor children. A case has been registered against his unidentified business partners.

JUDICIAL REMAND: The local anti-terrorism court no 1 on Thursday sent ruling party town president Zahid Inayat to jail on judicial remand.

Police had arrested him on charges of links with some proclaimed offenders.

INJURED: Dacoits shot injured four members of a family, including a minor girl, on resistance in Khiali Shahpur here on Thursday.

Reports said four dacoits stormed into the house of Muhammad Anwar by scaling the boundary wall. They started looting and opened fire on inmates on offering resistance. As a result of which Anwer, Aslam, Sarwar and minor girl Nadia sustained injuries. They were rushed to DHQ hospital.

In the meantime, some people chased the accused and caught one of them who was later identified as Iftikhar Ahmad.

A case has been registered.
