Rs1.5m robbery at trader’s house

LAHORE, Feb 6: Six robbers stormed into the house of a businessman in Shahdara area and looted cash, jewellery and other valuables worth Rs1.5 million.

Police said the dacoits entered Shahzad’s house on Mehmood Alam Road in Jiya Musa, held hostage all family members, including his two married sisters and a brother, at gunpoint, and made off with 78-tola gold ornaments and Rs361,000 cash.

The police suspected that someone in the family might have involved in the robbery as two dacoits were busy on cell phone during the incident according to Shahzad’s statement.

A case has been registered.

In another incident, three bandits came to a pharmacy store in Hanjarwal area and took away Rs230,000 and a cell phone from Amjad Iqbal.

Robbers intercepted factory manager Mushtaq in Liaquatabad area and snatched Rs300,000 and a cell phone from him at gunpoint.

Meanwhile, some robbers were looting passers-by near Mansha petrol pump in Shahdara. A citizen informed 15 about the situation and police officials present at Saggian bridge rushed to the spot and arrested six bandits after a brief encounter.

They also seized illegal weapons from their possession.

Two dacoits intercepted Noor Muhammad on Allah Bakhsh Road in Noshad Colony, North Cantonment and snatched cash in thousands and a cell phone from him at gunpoint.

Two motorcyclists intercepted Faisal at Qainchi Amar Sidhu in Kot Lakhpat and deprived him of his mobile phone.

Some robbers intercepted a passer-by near PSO petrol pump on Model Town Link Road at gunpoint and took away cash in thousands and a cell phone from him.

TAKEN AWAY: A Suzuki carry (LWM-1756) was snatched from Islampura while four robbers drove away with a Mazda (LPT-2993) from Afghani Road in Kot Lakhpat.

Five cars were reportedly lifted from Gulberg, Garden Town, Wahdat Colony, Liaquatabad and Iqbal Town areas.

Three motorcycles were taken away from Garden Town, Qila Gujjar Singh and Shalimar.

SUICIDE: A jobless man committed suicide after taking poisonous pills in the City Raiwind area on Tuesday.

Police said Bashir, father of three, was upset for being unemployed.

ACCIDENT: An elderly man was crushed to death by a speeding vehicle in Manga Mandi area on Tuesday.

MURDERS: An addict allegedly killed his fellow addict over a drug issue in Ichra area on Tuesday.

Police said Talib Hussain, 27, and Abid Ali quarreled over the drug sharing issue at Latif Plaza on Ferozpura Road. Abid attacked Talib with a knife who died at a hospital.

A young boy was allegedly shot dead by his brother over a domestic issue in Gawalmandi area on Tuesday evening.
