GUJRANWALA, Feb 5: Traders of Ghakkhar town pulled down the shutters of their shops and threw the traffic out of gear on the GT Road for two hours in protest against the firing of ruling party activists in bazaars on Monday.

Police had arrested ruling party town president Zahid Inayat Butt along with his accomplices in an operation launched on the directive of high ups. His supporters and party activists went to different bazaars of town and forced the traders to shut their business in protest against the arrest of their leader. They resorted to firing in the air when the traders refused to do so.

On it, traders became infuriated and took out protest procession after closing their shops and later blocked the traffic.

They demanded registration of cases against the culprits and their immediate arrest. — Correspondent
