DERA GHAZI KHAN, Feb 5: The functioning of DG Khan district council has almost come to a standstill after suspension of district naib nazim/convener as it could not approve the revised budget in-time while the fate of CCB projects seems to be uncertain.

Reports said a three-member presiding panel had been constituted after suspension of convener Dost Muhammad Khosa to steer functioning of the council. The panel included Jaafar Buzdar, Alim Khan Khetran and Tayyaba Aziz. None of them stepped into the shoes of the convener.

Tayyaba Aziz told this correspondent that the panel would work on directions of the district nazim. In this situation, the fate of Rs200 million projects under citizen community boards (CCBs) seems to be uncertain.

It is pertinent to mention here that the convener had sought a report of the approved development schemes from the EDO (P) before his suspension but he did not produce the document. Differences between district nazim Maqsood Leghari and the convener have played their role in this regard.

An employee of the district council told Dawn on condition of anonymity that the council was not in a position to adopt the revised budget which should have been passed three month before approval of the annual budget.

Meanwhile, projects under CCBs could not be initiated during the first four-year tenure of the district government owing to political conflict between authorities concerned.

PENSION APPROVED: The Punjab government has issued a notification regarding approval of pension policy of the defunct Dera Ghazi Khan Development Authority (DDA) employees.

As many as 91 officers and officials of the defunct DDA will get pension.

After disbandment of DDA, its employees had been adjusted in district governments of Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Muzaffargarh.
