Police kill captors, rescue boy

By Our Correspondent

SIALKOT, Feb 5: The Sambrial police rescued on Monday a kidnapped boy after killing his two unidentified captors after a shootout near the Sambrial city.

Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Zubair Nawaz Chattha told reporters Muhammad Azam’s son, Waleed Azam, was kidnapped from his house in Malkhanwala, Sambrial, three days ago.

The accused demanded Rs5 million ransom for the release of the boy.

The police got information that the captors had detained the boy in an under-construction house on Begowala-Sambrial Road.

The police surrounded the house but the captors opened fire which the police retaliated.

The police entered the house after the captors’ guns fell silent and found both accused dead.

The kidnapped boy, however, remained unhurt. The police found two Kalashnikovs and cartridges near the bodies.

The bodies of the deceased were shifted to the Government Allama Iqbal

Memorial Hospital for an autopsy. Regional Police Officer Malik Muhammad Iqbal announced cash and appreciation certificates for the raiding policemen.
