ATTOCK, Feb 5: Eight members of Gharibwal Union Council of Pindigheb Tehsil, including naib nazim and two women councilors, submitted their resignations to the nazim during the council’s session on Monday in protest against what they called the uncooperative attitude of Punjab Minister for Cooperatives Malik Muhammad Anwar, a source privy to the meeting told Dawn.
However, Nazim Malik Sameen Khan refused to accept their resignations and assured them that their grievances would be brought to the notice of District Nazim Tahir Sadiq Khan.
The session of the union council was convened on Monday in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day. UC Nazim Malik Sameen Khan, who is also Naib District Nazim, chaired the session.
According to the source soon after the start of the session, eight out of the 13-member house, including the naib nazim and two women councilors, protested against the attitude of provincial minister Malik Anwar. —Correspondent
