Three jail officials suspended

RAWALPINDI, Feb 5: Three Adiala Jail officials were on Monday suspended after an inquiry found them guilty of shaving off the heads of two drunk prisoners, an official source said.

The officials included chief warden Abdul Shakoor, head warden Mohammad Yusuf and warden Mohammad Iqbal.

Abdul Aziz, a convict and Syed Zulfiqar, an under-trial prisoner, were found drunk when they were brought back to the jail after hearing of their cases on February 2.

The source said the jail staff shifted them to a separate cell, where their heads were shaved off besides being tortured.

The superintendent of the jail, Shahid Saleem Baig personally conducted an investigation and found the officials guilty.—Staff Reporter
