KARACHI: ‘Statements on dam gimmicks to win poll’

KARACHI, Feb 5: Sindh National Front chief Mumtaz Bhutto on Sunday said that the repeated announcements by Gen Musharraf that he would build Kalabagh Dam was just an election gimmick as he was trying to get support from Punjab for his candidates in the poll.

In a statement issued , he said Gen Musharraf had not succeeded in achieving even one point of his seven-point agenda, which he had declared at the time of taking over power more than seven years ago.

The SNF chief said that people had got no relief in the past seven years.

Mr Bhutto said that before elections all the unscrupulous elements – turncoats, hypocrites, extortionists, terrorists, patharidars (harbourers of robbers) -- who were with the government be removed so that people became sure that fair elections would be held.—Staff Reporter
