Kashmir protest

SRINAGAR (Occupied Kashmir), Feb 4: Thousands of people denounced the police and demanded an independent inquiry into the alleged slaying of civilians by security forces, at the funeral on Sunday of one of the supposed victims.

About 8,000 people gathered in Nowbugh, a small town about 90 kilometres south of Srinagar, for the funeral of Ghulam Nabi Wani, an official in the town's police control room said.

Authorities exhumed Mr Wani’s body Saturday, one of five secretly buried bodies exhumed in recent days as part of an investigation into allegations that police killed people whom they knew to be innocent but said were militants, so they could claim rewards.
