LAHORE, Feb 4: Defending champions Bank Alfalah, Motorola and GSK/Diamond Paints entered the semi-finals of the National Polo championship for the Quaid-i-Azam Gold Cup on Sunday, with six points apiece.

Six goals by Jose Rivas helped reigning champions to earn another major win beating Soneri Bank12-7, as all four matches played on Sunday were one-sided.

A total of ten competing teams has made the event less competitive as the major players have been winning from day one.

Rivas, a seven-goal player, was the big difference between the two sides as he sidelined a formidable six-goal player David Bernal of the rival team in the match.

Rivas scored all field goals. Martin Inchauspe and Faaiz Rahim Khan added three goals each to complete the tally.

For the losers, Mauricio Devrient scored four while Tanvir Tariq (2) and David Bernal (1) were the other scorers.

Four goals by Gonzaloz Bourdieu and three by James Harper propelled Motrola to 7-3 win against Abraaj Capital. For the losers, Lucas Di Paola scored all goals.

Chris Hyde with a seven goal tally dominated the GSK/Diamond Paints 9-5 win against Master Paints. Peter Web and Mir Shoaib Ahmad scored one each.

For the losers,Pablo Bagnardi scored two while Sufi Mohammad Aamir, Sufi Mohammad Haris and Ashfaq chipped in one goal each.
