Wapda clinch judo title

LAHORE, Feb 4: Wapda with 35 points won the 2nd National women’s judo championship on Sunday.

Railways obtained 21 points to seize second spot.

In all, Wapda grabbed five gold, three silver and one bronze medal while Railways notched up two gold, two silver and five bronze medals.

Army (one gold, three silver, two bronze), Punjab (four bronze) and Police (two bronze) were the other units affiliated with the Pakistan Judo Federation, which took part. Miss Humairah Ashiq of Wapda was declared the “Best Player of the Tournament”. She won two gold medals one each in the opening weight category and in 52 kgs class.

Results:

40kgs: 1-Saima (Railways), 2-Farhat (Wapda), 3-Amna (Punjab).

44kgs: 1-Maryam (Wapda), 2-Rahat (Wapda), 3-Shakeela (Railways).

48 kgs: 1-Sonum (Wapda), 2-Shahla ('Army), 3-Fatima (Punjab).

52kgs: 1-Humaira (Wapda), 2-Iram (Army), 3-Zara (Railways).

57kgs: 1-Ambreen (Wapda), 2-Beenish (Railways), 3-Ansa (Army).

63kgs: 1-Fazeelat (Army), 2-Gul Zaman (Wapda), 3-Asia (Railways).

70kgs: 1-Bashiran (Railways), 2-Marsia (Army), 3-Nazma (Wapda).

Open: 1-Humaira (Wapda), 2-Beenish (Railways), 3-Bashiran (Railways).
