Muzafar shines with match-winner

KARACHI, Feb 4: Muzafar Siddiqui's match-winner helped British Overseas School defeat Avicenna 2-1 in Karachi United school soccer championship at DHA Stadium on Sunday.

Benedict Plant opened the scoring with a 24th-minute strike, while Muzafar was in action two minutes later.

Avicenna reduced the lead through Waleed Wasti in the 60th minute.

Defending champions Karachi Grammar School beat Foundation Public School 2-0.

Grammar School's Yasin Ali Ali Bhai had his name on to scoresheet in the 50th minute and Shahab Raza made it 2-0 just three minutes later.

Two-goal Faizan Butt gave St. Patrick’s High School a 2-0 win over The Generations School.

Faizan netted his first in the 40th minute and completed his double seven minutes later.

The Lecole for Advanced Studies handed Beaconhouse School — North Cambridge Branch a crushing 5-1 defeat.

The winners got off to a confident start with an Esmail Hanif goal with game two minutes old. It was followed by a consolation goal for Beaconhouse by Imab Asghar in the 10th minute.

Lecole's Raza Maki struck in the 17th minute, while Ahmed Tariq Khan found the cage in the 58th minute. Mubariz Siddiqui made it 4-0 in the 60th bminute, while Raza got his double two minutes later.

Earlier on Saturday, Usman Ahmed's match-winner helped The Lyceum School defeat The South Shore School for A’ Level Studies 2-1.

South Shore netted through Saadullah Khan in the 20th minute before Ikramullah levelled for the winners with a 59th-minute penalty. Usman struck a minute later to give his side a close win.

Six-goal Waqas Ahmed propelled The City School — Darakhshan Campus to a 8-0 victory over Progressive Public School at the same venue.

Apart from Waqas, Fawad Siddiqui (20 minute), Saleem Yousuf (25 minute) were the other scorers.

In another match, Mohammad and Salmanuddin Khan went on a rampage when they hammered in four goals each to give St. Patrick's High School a convincing 13-1 win over Beaconhouse School — North Cambridge Branch.

Zain Mania (30th, 54th minute), and Sylvester Mark (42th, 55th minute) were the other scorers.

Beaconhouse's Umar Farooq, who scored the consolation goal in the 49th minute, also added to the tally of City School with a gift of an own goal in the 57th minute.
