KARACHI: Naing takes on Khan in boys’ singles final

KARACHI, Feb 4: Naing Aung Kyaw (Myanmar) and Khan Mohamed (Malaysia) propelled into boys singles final after contrasting victories in the second leg of ITF 14 and Under Asian tennis championship at Islamabad Club on Sunday.

Naing was extended to full distance by Malaysian Deenshaam on his way to register a 6-7 (8-10), 6-3, 6-3 win in a 135-minute battle. He meets Khan Mohamed who in the other pre-final thrashed Pakistan’s Khurram Faizan

6-2, 6-2.

The final is slated on Monday at 9am.

Malaysian Boey set a date with Vietnamese Huynh for the girls’ singles title clash after they chalked up convincing victories over their opponents.

Pakistan’s Heera Ashiq pairing with Malaysian Merzuki cruised into boys doubles finals handing a 6-2, 6-1 defeat to home pair of Khurram Faizan-Zohair Raza.
