Robbers injure banker

LAHORE, Feb 3: Robbers shot at and injured a bank employee and made off with cash, gold ornaments and valuables worth more than Rs1.5 million in separate incidents here on Saturday.

Two armed men reportedly intercepted Asim Dar, a bank employee, in Islampura and opened fire on him on resistance. The robbers snatched Rs14,000 in cash and a cell phone from him and fled. The injured was rushed to hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.

Four robbers stormed into the house of trader Shaikh Aziz in Gulberg, held his family at gunpoint and escaped with cash, jewellery and valuables worth more than Rs1.5 million.

Busted: Baghbanpura police claimed to have arrested three carjackers and recovered two stolen cars, hashish and illegal weapons from them.

Mughalpura SP Ahsan Younis constituted a team headed by Baghbanpura SPO which collected the data of vehicle-lifters and arrested them. The police recovered two stolen cars, fake number plates, hashish and illegal weapons. Those arrested were identified as ringleader Irfan alias Shani Murad and Sajid. —Staff Reporter
