Faisalabad gain crucial lead

LAHORE, Feb 2: Faisalabad, batting to avoid relegation, obtained a crucial 30-run lead on the first innings against Peshawar in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League tie at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Friday.

The hosts were 245 for nine in reply to Peshawar’s 215 with Ijaz Ahmed Junior (71 with 10 fours) and Asad Ali (0) at the crease.

Ijaz batted solidly during his 153-ball innings in a stay of 220 minutes. Opener Imran Ali occupied the crease for 239 minutes to score 51 with three boundaries. Asif Hussain hit 48 with four fours during the opening stand of 94 with Imran.

Ex-Test off-spinner Arshad Khan, the Peshawar captain, took four for 74 in 34 overs while pacer Riaz Afridi sent down 32 overs to take three for 88.
