Sonu Love Mani days’ best bet at KRC

By Anwar Zuberi

Karachi, Feb 2: Six-year-old mare Sonu Love Mani, a decent performer, possesses the credentials to repeat her winning feat when the Gymkhana race meeting resumes at the Karachi Racecourse on Saturday.

With jockey M. Yousuf astride, she posted a facile seven lengths victory in the last outing.

Her likely challengers in a field of 14 runners barring last minute withdrawls are filly Phapha Kutni and bay horse Trust Again.

In view of her consistent performance she starts as our days’ best and should oblige the punters with yet another win.

A card of nine races has been drawn for the day’s meeting – first after a fortnight break for Muharram. The first race starts at 12noon.

Four-year-old chestnut filly Abhi Abhi who edged out mare Makina by three-quarter-of-a-length to land ‘The Horse of the Year’ cup on Jan 7 is again fancied to pick up spoils.

She is drawn alongside four contestants in the shortest field for a distance of seven furlongs.

She is likely to be chased by Al Faris and King Of Sanghar for the following two places.

In the preceding third race, Abhi Abhi’s stable mate Tharkyee if backed by connections is on course for a hat trick.

She should be opposed among others by chestnut colt Moon Raker and filly Gwenivare.

Four-year-old chestnut filly Kat Mandu is tipped to make amends by galloping to victory in the top division of class VII to be run over sprinting distance of five furlongs.

However, she has to overcome Birj-ul-Arab and Can’t Catch Me.

Three horses will vie for honours in div II of top class. They are Champion Express, Fair Boy and Juliat. We expect them to finish in the same order.

Following two successive second places, chestnut Flying Prince stand a chance to pick up the opener.
