KARACHI, Feb 2: The vehicles without official number plates are still plying on roads despite the special campaign launched by the traffic police against them.
It was observed on Friday that vehicles without proper number plates were on the roads in many areas of Orangi Town.
When this scribe contacted the traffic police, they said 267 unregistered vehicles were challaned, 166 were detained and Rs26,700 in fines was collected during the campaign.
The operators of 1,628 passenger vehicles, buses, minibuses and coaches were fined Rs162,800 for carrying passengers on the roof top of the vehicles and other violations.
An official of traffic police said no one would be spared during the campaign which would continue across the city.
