ISLAMABAD, Feb 2: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) on Friday launched eDox — electronic correspondence management system — as part of reforms of the tax administration.

This eDox is a web-based computer application, which would keep track of all inbound and outbound mail and files of the office, once all necessary information are captured on the system.

It would provide the users an electronic (paperless) environment in the CBR and its field offices for processing of documents and files. This will also enable the users to quickly communicate with the internal as well as external customers using latest IT tools. While launching the electronic management system, Chairman CBR Abdullah Yousuf expressed the confidence that it would further enhance the image of CBR as a thoroughly reformed and fully automated public sector organisation capable of facing the challenges of the modern age of information technology.

He hoped that with the help of this new system CBR’s correspondence and file system would be improved considerably and will become more efficient and transparent. He advised the concerned officials to be vigilant and keep a constant check on the running of the system to get the desired results.

CBR has become the pioneer among the public sector organisations by introducing and implementing the said electronic documents (files) processing solution (eDoX) with a bare minimum cost, in collaboration with Buraq Integrated Solutions (Pvt) Ltd.

It was claimed that new application was fully compliant with the secretariat instructions, government Rules of Business 1973 updated from time to time.

While witnessing a demonstration of the system, the chairman applauded the efforts and perseverance of the team for providing such an efficient solution and transforming the office system from a manual to an electronic business processing environment. The CBR has planned to roll out the eDoX throughout its field offices, initially in the reform units. The system will provide an efficient and speedy disposal of office work enabling the top management to monitor and track all such transactions.
