LAHORE, Feb 1: The Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, was operated upon on Thursday at a private hospital and doctors said he was stable.
The maulana was admitted to the Doctors’ Hospital in the morning and doctors conducted angiography. Later, an angioplasty was carried out and he was shifted to the coronary care unit in the afternoon.
According to sources, the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam leader had felt pain in chest at his home in Dera Ismail Khan. He was shifted to Peshawar by a helicopter and then to Lahore.
The sources said he was hale and hearty. However, doctors have barred people from visiting him.
