Atiq stands tall for Sialkot

LAHORE, Feb 1: A fine 70 by opener Atiq-ur-Rehman guided Sialkot to 212 for six against Lahore Shalimar on the first day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League fixture at the Jinnah Stadium in Sialkot on Thursday.

Atiq’s 153-ball innings contained 11 boundaries. Apart from him, Mansoor Amjad (25) and Ayub Dogar (28 not out) were the other batsmen to make useful contributions.

Medium-pacer Junaid Zia took three for 33 while slow left-armer Mohammad Hussain claimed two wickets.

As many as 11 overs were lost because of fading light.
