Karachi to host Asian Snooker

KARACHI, Feb. 1: The 23rd Asian Snooker championship will be held at a local five star hotel in June or July, an official of the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) said on Thursday. “Because of logistics problem, we have decided to shift the event from Islamabad to Karachi,” he said.

Pakistan won the bid at the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sport (ACBS) moot in Colombo. “Our negotiations are on and dates and venue would be finalized in due course of time,” he said.

The PBSA President, Asghar Valika, said that Thailand will stage this year's World Snooker championship at Bangkok in November. Pakistan team, he said, will also take part in the eight-nation International Team Snooker Championship in April in Dubai.

He said two-member Pakistan squad comprising Vishan Gir and Imran Shahzad will represent Pakistan in Asian Billiards championship in Doha (Qatar) from May 26. Pakistani cueist would also be featuring in second Asian Indoor Games to be held in Macau from Oct 26 to Nov 3. –Agencies
